The Canton of Zürich is set to host the 2024 Road World Championships, marking a historic first as the Para-Cycling Road World Championships will occur simultaneously, from September 21 to 29, 2024. With just days to go, excitement builds around the 82 African cyclists representing 19 nations.

Competition Overview

This year, five elite world titles will be contested: men’s and women’s individual time trials, men’s and women’s road races, and the mixed relay team time trial. In total, 11 rainbow jerseys will be awarded in road cycling, alongside another 53 in para-cycling.

The elite time trials feature challenging climbs, with women gaining 327 meters over 29.9 km and men climbing 413 meters over 46.1 km. The women’s road race will cover 154.1 km with an altitude gain of 2,384 meters, while the men’s race stretches to 273.9 km with a gruelling 4,470 meters of climbing.
