Football holds a special place in Zambia’s sporting culture, with the national football team achieving memorable moments in its history.

One of the most iconic victories occurred at the 1988 Seoul Olympics when Zambia’s team triumphed over Italy with a remarkable score of 4–0, leaving an indelible mark in the annals of football history.

In 2012, Zambia achieved a historic milestone by winning the African Cup of Nations for the first time, overcoming previous final losses. While rugby in Zambia remains a minor sport, it is steadily growing, with the nation currently ranked 68th by the International Rugby Board, promising a brighter future for this emerging discipline in Zambia’s sporting landscape.
